PURPOSE: To provide an upper surface light-emission type display device having a good contrast and a manufacturing method of the display device suitable for the manufacture of this display device. CONSTITUTION: While forming light emitting elements 3 on a supporting substrate 1, black matrixes 13 are formed on a transparent counter substrate 11. The supporting substrate 1 and the counter substrate 11 are stuck together in the state of sealing the display elements 3 with an adhesion resin 21, and filling the adhesion resin 21 between the supporting substrate 1 and the counter substrate 11. On this occasion, the supporting substrate 1 and the counter substrate 11 are aligned so that the formation surface of the black matrixes 13 in the counter substrate 11 may be oppositely placed in the formation surface of the light emitting elements 3 in the supporting substrate 1, and that the black matrixes 13 may be disposed by oppositely placing them between the light emitting elements 3. This alignment is performed by disposing an alignment mark 7 formed on the formation surface of the light emitting elements 3 in the supporting base plate 1, and an alignment mark 17 formed on the counter substrate 11 in the predetermined state. |
