Molded solid plastic profile board for use near water is produced by compression of soiled plastic scrap from household waste

Molded solid plastic profile (1) is compression molded in a non-cleaned and unsorted plastic scrap of mixed composition resulting from household waste after removal of large components based on high and low density polyethylene. An independent claim is included for a process for manufacturing the product in which: (a) bales of plastic scrap are shredded to form chips approximately 70mm across; (b) the chips are agglomerated(7), then cooled; (c) agglomerate is fed to extruders with successive heating zones at 90[deg], 110[deg] and 120[deg]C; (d) the resulting melt is pumped at 130 bar by the extruder screws into a manifold head at 90[deg]C and a manifold at 130[deg]C feeding adjacent cooled tools on a table; (e) the molded products are cooled by water flowing through an outer jacket; and (f) further melt is pumped into the tools at 70 bar to force the cooled products out and ensure a high density of 1.014.
