摘要 PURPOSE: A dockable computer system and its power control method is provided to prevent a wrong operation of a system or a physical damage when there occurs an accidental docking event. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a portable computer(110) and a docking station(140). The portable computer(110) includes a CPU(112) and a state register(116). The state register(116) stores docking state data corresponding to a normal or an accidental docking event. The state register(116) stores the state data corresponding to the accidental docking event in a power on default state, but does the state data corresponding to the normal or accidental docking event in a case that there occurs a normal or accidental event by a docking management program(126) or an eject switch(144). The CPU(112) reads the state register(116) and checks if the docking event is accidental. In a case of an accidental docking event, the CPU(112) controls a power supply(128) for enabling a micro controller to switch off the power supplied to the portable computer(110). The docking station(140) includes a docking bus(150), the eject switch(144) and a docking controller(142). The docking bus(150) is connected to a system bus via external connectors(130, 148). The eject switch(144), connected to the docking bus(150) and a communication link(152), outputs a docking event related signal to the docking management program(126). The docking controller(142) controls an overall operation of the docking station(140).
