Active thermography materials testing method has test area of tested object scanned via thermal imaging camera before and after heating test area via focused laser beam

The materials testing method uses a camera (10) which detects temperature differences above a threshold value, for providing thermal images of examined surfaces of a tested object (8). The camera is used initially for providing the temperatures of object elements within a test area (14) of the tested object, before heating the test area via a focused laser beam (4), for providing a temperature increase corresponding to the threshold value, with evaluation of the temperature characteristic of the object elements from the corresponding thermal image elements. An independent claim for a thermographic device for materials testing is also included.
