The present invention relates to hip prostheses for animals. The prosthesis according to the invention is characterised essentially by the fact that it consists of a ball-and-socket joint comprising a female part 10 intended to be implanted in the bone 3 of the hip, and a male part 20 intended to be implanted in the femur 2, the male part comprising at least one shaft 21 and an attachment head 22 integral with one end 23 of the shaft, the axis of implantation 24 of the shaft in the femur and the axis of attachment 25 of the head forming between them an angle essentially equal to 140 degrees.
