<p>Systems (10) and methods for obtaining magnetic measurements from a magnetic writing surface (12) such that the positions and motions of a writing instrument (14) on the writing surface (12) max be recreated and processed. In one embodiment, the writing surface (12) includes magnetic particles that are distributed with a predetermined gradient to allow a unique magnetic measurement at writing surface locations as the writing instrument (14) is moved across the writing surface (12). The writing instrument (14) max be equiped with magnetic sensing devices, and in some embodiments, the writing instrument (14) max be instrumented with sensors to measure the force, angle, and accelerations of the writing instrument (14). A processing unit may receive the magnetic measurements and recreate the motions of the writing instrument (14). The writing instrument (14) measurements may be converted to text.</p> |
