The aircraft seat has a back (2) pivotable between an upright seat position and a folded down couchette position. The seat (3) has two support and drive assemblies (18) located either side the seat. Their function is to support the seat and to couple the movements of the back and seat. In this way movement of the back from the upright position to the couchette position causes raising of the seat. Conversely the seat is lowered when the back is moved into the upright position. Each assembly comprises two connecting rods (24-27) pivoted at their end parts about spindles (28,30). The first rods (24,26) are pivoted at their end to the back about spindles (16) and the second rods (25,27) are pivoted to the seat about spindles (28,31).
