The package (1) for an optical plate (3) comprises a case with a first case part (5) a second case part (7) movable pivotably between an open and a closed state over the first case part, plate fixture devices (21) for the releasable fixture of the optical plate to be accommodated in the case and a plate retainer (9) manually movable and pivotably connectable with the case by connecting devices (11). The plate retainer extends from a first outer end (17) at the side of the plate and over the plate to a free second outer end. It is provided with retention devices (21) at the side turned away from the plate and which are manually operable. The pivotable connection of the plate retainer has a pivot axis vertical to the main wall of the first case part.
