<p>A system and method for dynamically cascading MCUs according to gatekeeper (116) and network resource utilization policies. The system comprises local area networks (102) that couple multiple endpoints (106, 108, 110) and multiple MCUs (104) to a resource scheduler (118), a gatekeeper (116), and a network resource manager (114). The network manager (114) determines whether network resources are optimized by cascading MCUs (104). The gatekeeper (116) includes a cascade optimization module for determining an optimum configuration for cascading two or more MCUs (104) together. The cascade configuration is determined according to the connectivity policies maintained by the gatekeeper (116).</p> |
