The stand for supporting a clock gauge on a machine tool has two arms (1,2). These are pivoted to each other by a special bolt which forms part of a hydraulic system for clamping the joint. Each arm (1,2) has a second arm (17) attached to its outer end by a ball joint (16) which is also clamped by the hydraulic pressure generated by rotating the clamping screw (9). The ball joint (16) has a housing (18) which is retained by being screwed on to a split ring (20). This split ring (20) consists of two half rings which fit in a circumferential groove in the arm (1,2). USE - Support for clock gauge.
