<p>A data communicator of a circuit design server interacts with a remote EDA client exchanging only a small subset of the data defining a design yet sufficient data to enable a design engineer using the remote EDA client to evaluate and process the circuit design. The data sent to the EDA client is summary data which summarizes collections of circuit elements without specifying the circuit elements individually. In addition, the circuit design is represented hierarchically - either in traditional hierarchical representation or a hybrid representation which is hierarchical but also includes circuit placement information and wire routing between soft blocks - and only a subset of the entire circuit design is represented to the design engineer at any one time. From the remotely located EDA client, the design engineer can perform all the tasks normally performed during circuit but can do so remotely, from any client computer accessible to the circuit design server through the computer network.</p> |
