PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping device capable of displaying specified damping performance to the maximum by securing shearing thickness of a viscoelastic body even under a condition where a compressive load, other deforming force, etc., are applied while using the viscoelastic body of a material characteristic large in a damping property and which can be constituted light in weight and inexpensive as a whole. SOLUTION: The viscoelastic bodies 3, 3 are interposed in layers between opposed surfaces of two outside steel plates 11 arranged in parallel with an interval between them and an inside steel plate 2 arranged in parallel at their intermediate position, and a plural number of hard balls 4, 4 having a diameter equal to layer thickness of each of the viscoelastic bodies 3, 3 are buried and held at a plural number of points of each of the viscoelastic bodies 3, 3.
