PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide preventive measures against wear in a furnace bottom from an aspect of a design for structure of the furnace bottom. SOLUTION: The structure of the furnace bottom in a blast furnace is constituted so that the diameter in the furnace is increased from the setting height of iron tapping holes as coming to the lower part and the shape of the inner surface of side walls in the furnace bottom has the shape of side surface of a circular truncated cone. The side wall surface at a molten iron pool part in the furnace bottom at the lower part from the setting height of the iron tapping holes can be regulated to form <=85 deg. angel to the horizontal plane.
