Mechanical part made of a reinforced elastomeric sheet, manufacturing process and mould for its manufacture

The sheet component is made by first fitting the reinforcing structure inside the free volume of a mould in at least two sections so that it is held at a given distance from one of the mould's inner surfaces by spacers. The sheet component, e.g. for an air cushion sealing skirt, is made by first fitting the reinforcing structure (20) inside the free volume (12) of a mould (2) in at least two sections (4, 6a, 6b) so that it is held at a given distance from one of the mould's inner surfaces (8, 10) by spacers (16, 18). The spacers are located on the surface of one of the mould components, and the reinforcing structure can be held under tension against them with its ends wound round a fixing member. The elastomer (26) is then poured into the mould in liquid form and cured before the moulded component is extracted.
