PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and its manufacturing method which surely prevent a sealant from entering the effective display area of a liquid crystal display in the sealing stage of the liquid crystal display and then can eliminate the generations of display defects, pixel defects, etc. SOLUTION: To seal an injection hole 4 as an opening part for the sealing material 5, by forming a groove 7 for making a sealant 6 flow in on the top surface of a transparent substrate 1 outside an effective area 8 in the injection hole 4, since an excessive amount of the sealing material 5 flows in the groove 7 when the sealant 6 is applied to the injection hole 4, none of the sealing material 6 flows in the part where the groove 7 is formed.
