PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot dip metal coating device for a band steel which is of simple structure and capable of effectively preventing the formation of dross in a plating bath in a continuous hot dip coating of the band steel. SOLUTION: The hot dip metal coating device for the band steel has a plating pot 2 which includes a plating bath 1 being a molten metal, into which the band steel is continuously introduced for hot dip metal coating, a bank 9 which surrounds a zone 8, whereinto a metal ingot for supplying the molten metal is charged, in the plating bath 1 and whose upper part projects from the surface of the bath 1, a plating liquid discharge port 11 which is provided at the lower part of the plating bath surrounded with the bank 9 and communicates an inner plating bath 1I inside the bank 9 to an outer plating bath 1O, and plural resistance plates 101 to 10n which are provided in the inner plating bath 1I in the bank 9 and function as resistances to the downward flow of the plating liquid.
