Cold-crucible induction furnace, comprising a crucible (6) consisting of a certain number of metal sectors (6A, 6B) electrically insulated from each other and cooled, as well as an electromagnetic induction means arranged around the crucible. According to the invention, the electromagnetic induction means (5) is supplied with low-frequency electric current; each metal sector forming the wall of the crucible (6) is made from a cut-out thin metal sheet; and provision is made for a means for cooling each sector, cooling being achieved by means of a pipe (22) welded or braised onto the outer surface of the sector (21), allowing circulation of a coolant (cooling fluid) intended to extract the heat from the sector. <IMAGE>
