PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably deaerate a bag with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: In an article filling cylinder 12, an article throw-in port 12a is opened in an upper end extending upwardly from the position at which a bag making unit 14 is located, and an article 22 to be packaged is thrown into the article filling cylinder 12 from the article throw-in port 12a at the required timing. A shutter means 24 for closing the article throw-in port 12a in an openable manner is disposed on an upper part of the article filling cylinder 12. The shutter means 24 opens the article throw-in port 12a when the work 22 is thrown in, and closes the article throw-in port 12a when the air in the bag is deaerated. An exhaust port 36 is formed at the position between the bag making unit 14 and the article throw-in port 12a in the article filling cylinder 12, and the exhaust port 36 is connected to a blower 38 via an air suction passage 40. A change-over valve 42 capable of changing over ON and OFF of air suction from the inside of a cylindrical film is disposed in the air suction passage 40.
