摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument capable of accurately measuring the hardness or shape having an edge of flexible matter such as a human body or the like and excellent from an aspect of sanitation. SOLUTION: In such a case that a region different in hardness such as a stiffness or the like is present in a part of the flexible matter such as the human body or the like, when a deformable probe 13 is pressed to the region of a predetermined range including the stiffness, the matter is deformed so that stiffness protrudes corresponding to its hardness and the probe 13 is deformed so as to follow the deformation of the matter. Then, the degree of deformation of the probe 13 is read by a CCD area sensor 22 to calculate the deformation of the matter and the hardness of the stiffness. When the deformable probe 13 is pressed to the edge or the like of the matter relatively high in rigidity, the probe 13 is deformed to the shape of the edge and, therefore, by reading this deformation by the CCD area sensor, the shape of the edge can be accurately measured.
