PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying device provided with the so-called traveling performance for an automobile to drive the device by comparatively small torque at the time of normal traveling by obtaining large torque at the time of acceleration/ deceleration, allowing miniaturization, reduction in cost and exact positioning and facilitating the positioning adjustment. SOLUTION: A continuously variable transmission 14 performing a gear shift operation by displacement of a rotary angle of a gear shift rod 15 is provided on a truck 11 or a carrier passage 12. A dog 24 abuttable on the gear shift rod 15 of the continuously variable transmission 14 is fixed to the truck 11 or the carrier passage 12 without the mounted continuously variable transmission 14. When the truck 11 is moved to one side of the carrier passage 12, a speed reduction ratio of the continuously variable transmission 14 is gradually made infinity and the brake is applied to the truck 11 by rotating the gear shift rod 15 to one side by the dog 24, and the truck 11 is smoothly stopped at a first stopping position. When the truck 11 is moved to the other side, the speed reduction ratio of the continuously variable transmission 14 is gradually made infinity, the brake is applied to the truck 11 by rotating the gear shift rod 15 to the other side by a dog 25, and the truck 11 is smoothly stopped at a second stopping position.
