PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which image writing start positions can be adjusted to be the same with a simple constitution in the case of writing a plurality of lines of images on a recording medium by using a plurality of laser beams. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is equipped with an electrifying means for electrifying an image forming surface by performing main scanning control in which a plurality of laser beams are repeatedly deflected by a fixed angle so as to irradiate the image forming surface, and is further equipped with a synchronism detection sensor (27) for detecting the laser beam reaching the outside of the image forming area within a deflecting range formed by the scanning control of the laser beam and generating an analog signal, and a writing control part (18) for controlling each writing timing on the basis of a plurality of analog signals outputted by the sensor (27). The control part (18) measures the time width of a plurality of analog signals from the sensor (27) by using a clock signal having a specified frequency, calculates the difference of the measured time width of the signals and controls the writing timing according to the calculated difference. |
