METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING OPTICAL FIBER GRATING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably manufacturing an optical fiber grating having a phase shift while ensuring desired optical characteristics. SOLUTION: A bare optical fiber having a core and clad made at least partially of quartz-based glass whose refractive index increases by being irradiated with ultraviolet light is irradiated with the ultraviolet light in specific cycles along the length to manufacture a grating part 13B having a phase shift part introduced at one or more places. The optical characteristics of the grating part 13B are monitored and compared with desired optical characteristics, and at least one or both of the operation for irradiating the phase shift part 14 with the ultraviolet light and the operation for heating the phase shift part is performed to adjust the optical characteristics of the grating part 13B.
