PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selectively and readily producing monoallylamine in high yield by using an allyl halide as a raw material. SOLUTION: The allyl halide represented by general formula (1): CH2=CH- CH2-X (wherein, X is a halogen atom) is reacted with an aromatic aldehyde represented by general formula (2) (wherein, R is an alkyl group; and n is an integer of 0-3), and ammonia to produce benzylideneallylamines represented by general formula (3) (wherein, R and n are same as the above), and the obtained benzylideneallylamines represented by general formula (3) are hydrolyzed in the presence of an acid to provide monoallylamine.
