PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a sealing method for divided points disposed at a reaction tube of a reaction furnace which houses a glass objects therein and reacts the glass object. SOLUTION: The reaction tube formed by longitudinally dividing the reaction tube 1 to plural segments and fitting the ends of the reaction tube with flanges 2 and 3 along the divided points to make the reaction tube separable and joinable by these flanges 2 and 3 is provided with gas passages 5 to be filed with gas for sealing along the joint surface 4 of the flanges 2 and 3 or along the outer periphery of the joint surface 4 of the flanges 2 and 3, by which the direct leakage of the atmosphere gas in the reaction tube 1 to the outside along the joint surface 4 and the direct infiltration of the external atmospheric air into the reaction tube along the joint surface 4 are prevented.
