PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a PC fiber which suppresses formation of a hydroxyl group during drawing and is capable of yielding the PC fiber having lower transmission loss than heretofore. SOLUTION: This method manufactures the photonic crystal fiber by bundling many capillaries 1, 1, etc., so as to form a prescribed lattice sequence at the cross section of capillarie holes and arranging a core rod 2 at a central axial position to form a preform 4 and reducing the diameter of the preform 4 by drawing, in which method both ends of each of the many capillaries 1, 1, etc., are sealed. |
