PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability by preventing partial wear and scratching of a guide cylinder, in a valve system of engine in which a valve stem of an engine valve is slidably fitted to the guide cylinder provided to a cylinder head, and a rocker arm which is rocked interlocking with a rotation of a cam shaft is interlocked and connected to the valve stem. SOLUTION: Lifters 102 and 103 are respectively formed into cylindrical shapes with bottoms having diameters larger than outer diameters of valve stems 86 and 90, and respectively interposed between the rocker arm 100 and the valve stem 86 and between the rocker arm 101 and the valve stem 90. These lifters 102 and 103 are fitted to lifter housings 95 and 96 to be slidable in an axial direction of the valve stems 86 and 90, respectively, and the lifter housings 95 and 96 are fixedly mounted to the cylinder head 15R.
