PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcement member for vehicle capable of increasing the steering stability and riding comfortableness of a vehicle without causing an increase in weight and a stress concentration around a mounting part. SOLUTION: A damping force generating means (hydraulic damper) generating a viscous damping force against an axial deformation is installed in the reinforcement member for vehicle installed at the reinforced portion of a body and mainly receiving an axial force. Since the axial deformation rate and the overshoot of the deformation of the reinforcement member 1 can be suppressed by the viscous damping force generated by the damping force generating means, the steering stability and riding comfortableness of the vehicle can be increased by suppressing the vibratory deformation of the body without remarkably increasing the static rigidity of the reinforcement member 1. As a result, since the static rigidity of the reinforcement member 1 must not be remarkably increased, an increase in weight of the reinforcement member 1 and a stress concentration around the installation part are not caused, and a remarkable change of the body is not required also.
