PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner which is constituted by connecting a plurality of indoor machines to one outdoor machine and is improved in fluctuation and deterioration in its operational efficiency by more accurately controlling the degree of superheat at the suction port of a compressor. SOLUTION: During operation, the corrected degree of superheat SHax of an individual unit which is the sum of the degree of superheat SHt of all units (which is the difference between the inlet temperature of the compressor, namely, the temperature of a refrigerant sucked in the compressor and the mean temperature value of the indoor heat exchangers of all indoor units during operation) and the deviation DSHx of the degree of superheat of the individual unit (which is the difference between the degree of superheat SHx of the individual unit that is the difference between the temperatures of the refrigerant and indoor heat exchanger of the individual unit and the mean value SHm of the degrees of superheat of the individual units of all indoor units during operation) is found at every indoor unit. Then the flow rate of the refrigerant is controlled to increase when the corrected degree of superheat SHax of the individual unit is larger than a preset reference degree of superheat SHOx or to decrease when the corrected degree of superheat SHax is smaller than the reference degree of superheat SHOx.
