PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for electrolysis which is excellent in durability, is used particularly in an acidic solution at high current density and is useful for electrolysis, such as metallic surface treatment and solution treatment. SOLUTION: The electrode for electrolysis consists of (a) an electrode substrate consisting of titanium or a titanium-base alloy and (b) an electrode coating layer containing 80 to 99.9 wt.% platinum and 0.1 to 20 wt.% boron oxide deposited on the surface of this substrate.
