PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good-quality double-sided image by excellently separating recording material from a transfer belt without causing jam even in the case of forming the image on both sides of the recording material. SOLUTION: This image forming device has a double-sided image forming function. In a stack double-sided system, the several sheets of recording material are consecutively fed while they are carried on a transfer belt 130 so as to form the image on the first side, and separated from the transfer belt after fixing, stacked in an intermediate tray 11, and then fed to the transfer belt and consecutively fed while they are carried again so as to form the image on the second side. When the recording material is paper whose basic weight is 64 g/m2, destaticizing bias (negative DC voltage having the same polarity as toner) applied to a destaticizing roller 21 for destaticizing the transfer belt after separating the recording material is set to -4 kV in the case of forming the image on the first side, and set to -1 kV in the case of forming the image on the second side, because the sticking force of paper to the belt becomes strong when the destaticizing bias is high, and the paper is hardly separated from the belt. |
