PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable cooking stove 100 intended for home or business use, in which the thermal efficiency and the thermal output are maintained high by direct heating, and also visual beauty and clean-up easiness are maintained same as in the flat top cooking stove, when it is not used. SOLUTION: In the portable cooking stove, there are provided a top plate 1, a heating opening 2 formed in the top-plate 1, a tripod 4 above the opening 2 for mounting apart therefrom a heated object N, a burner 3, and an opening/ closing means 12 for the opening 2. The burner 3 heats the object N by burning the fuel gas G and ejecting a combustion gas 10 upward from the opening 2. The means 12 can selectively switch the posture of a cover member 11 capable of closing the opening 2 between the postures for opening and closing the opening 2.
