FRESHNESS RETAINING AGENT FOR CUT FLOWER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a freshness retaining agent for cut flowers capable of keeping not only antimicrobial activities and harmless to human and domestic animals but safe for environmental pollution to retain freshness of cut flowers as it has been pointed out that a chlorine-based agent or a chemical controlling agent containing a heavy metal which has been used as a freshness retaining agent for cut flowers causes generation of chlorine gas though in a minute amount and a fear of cancer generation. SOLUTION: This freshness retaining agent for cut flowers is obtained by bringing a mixed agent made by mixing hydroxyisoxazole with an effective component of chitosan to include a nutrient agent mainly comprising a sugar such as sucrose or the like.
