PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technique for improving a frictional characteristic in order to respond to a desire for further increasing a torque capacity. SOLUTION: This pulley member is wound with a transmission belt in a belt type CVT for a vehicle. The roughness Rz (ten-point average roughness) of a surface shape in a contact area brought into contact with the transmission belt is 5-50μm, and the surface shape includes a plurality of protruded stripes having the prescribed directivity in this pulley member.
