PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the heat capacity of a part to be heated, to shorten warm-up time and to ensure the excellent separability of paper in a fixing part. SOLUTION: This fixing unit is constituted of an endless belt for fixing, a fixing roller made of an elastic member and pressing the endless belt to recording material, a backup roller opposed to the fixing roller so as to hold the recording material and the endless belt between itself and the fixing roller, a guide member for guiding the traveling path of the endless belt traveling while being held between the fixing roller and the backup roller, and a heating means for heating the endless belt. The heating means directly heats the endless belt in a non-contact state.
