PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developing method by which a heat developing photosensitive material having high heat developing activity can be rapidly developed by heat with high sensitivity and images having no irregular density and high preserving property can be obtained. SOLUTION: In the heat developing method of a heat developing photosensitive material having an image forming layer containing at least photosensitive silver halides, non-photosensitive organic silver salts, a reducing agent for the silver ion and a binder on one surface of a support by using a heat developing device having a heat developing part, the heat developing photosensitive material contains a compound expressed by general formula (D), and the binder in the image forming layer has >=20 deg.C glass transition temperature. The heat developing part has a heating means composed of a plate heater arranged in a planar or curved face state. A plurality of press rollers are disposed along one surface of the planar plate heater to face the heater. The heat developing photosensitive material is made to pass through between the press rollers and the planar plate heater by a carrying means.
