PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect, using a simple and inexpensive detector at an entrance to a vehicle-carrying pallet, that a subject to be carried protrudes out of the limited space of the pallet and to warn an operator of it. SOLUTION: This safety device includes a controller having gate-shaped detection bars 7a and 7b for detecting the width or height of a vehicle 6 and a detection switch 7c actuated by the bars 7a and 7b, at the entrance to the pallet 5, with the controller inhibiting the operation of a parking device 1 upon actuation of the switch 7C; and warning devices 9a and 9b provided respectively near the front portion and the innermost portion of the pallet 5 in a vehicle entrance/exit portion 2 and similarly actuated.
