The seal, fitted between the surfaces of fixed and parallel moving components, consists of a supple U-section skirt 2 - 5 mm thick which is joined with a continuous seal to the surface of one of the components; the other end is joined to the same surface by connectors with apertures that allow the skirt to be inflated with a fluid to take up the gap between the two components.
