PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently apply heat treatment to a large quantity of thick steel plates acceleratively cooled after hot-rolling. SOLUTION: After rolling with a rolling mill 1, the thick steel plate is acceleratively cooled with an accelerative cooling device 2, and the strain is straightened with a hot-straightening machine 12, and the thick steel plate 11 cut-off with a hot cutting machine 3 is conveyed for a prescribed time with conveying lines 41, 42 in a cooling bed 4. Successively, the thick steel plate 11 is conveyed to a transfer 7 with a conveying line 9 and charged into a high frequency induction heating furnace 5 from the inlet 5a of this heating furnace 5 with the transfer 7. Further, the thick steel plate 11 heating-treated in the heating furnace 5 is conveyed from the outlet 5b of the heating furnace 5 to the cooling bed 4 with a transfer 8 and a conveying line 10. Then, the thick steel plate is again conveyed with the conveying line 42 and the conveying line 9. In this way, the heat treatment can be applied to the thick steel plate acceleratively cooled in on-line.
