PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method capable of increasing a driving margin by stabilizing writing discharge and decreasing a writing voltage in a plasma display panel used for image display of a computer, a TV or the like. SOLUTION: In the driving method for adjusting wall charges by applying a falling waveform to scanning electrodes before a write period in the latter half of an initializing period to generate sustaining discharge, while the falling waveform is applied to the scanning electrodes, a voltage of the inverse polarity to a pulse to be applied to each electrode at the time of the next operation is applied to the sustaining electrode and the write electrodes, and it is thereby possible to prevent the wall charges from being erased while the falling waveform is being applied to the scanning electrodes, and increase the driving margin.
