PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively prevent defective conveyance of paper sheets, provide stable conveying action, and reduce size, weight and cost of the whole device. SOLUTION: This paper feeder is provided with a picker roller 4 abutting on an upper most face of the paper sheets 10 loaded on a hopper table 2, rotated via a driving means, picking up the paper sheets 10 one by one, and conveying them in a predetermined conveying direction (a), a plurality of guide rollers 5a and 5b guiding the paper sheets 10 in the conveying direction (a) by slidably contacting the conveyed paper sheets 10 and rotating along with conveyance of the paper sheets 10, a guide roller holder 6 rotatably holding the guide rollers 5a and 5b, and a holder driving part 24 vertically moving the guide rollers 5a and 5b to the paper sheets 10 by rotating the guide roller holder 6. It is composed so as to provide outer circumference center lines of cylinder circumferential faces of the picker roller 4 and the guide rollers 5a and 5b on the same line parallel to the conveying direction (a) of the paper sheets 10.
