PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera having a lens barrier capable of performing photographing while protecting a photographic lens without adopting a complicated mechanical constitution nor restricting the photographing form of a photographer. SOLUTION: This camera having the lens barrier is provided with the lens barrier equipped with a barrier blade moving to a 1st position where the photographic lens is protected and a 2nd position where the photographic lens is set into an exposed state, a lens barrier driving mechanism for driving the barrier blade, a power switch for switching the power source of the camera to an on-state or an off-state, a release switch for starting exposing operation, and a control means controlling the lens barrier driving mechanism when the power source of the camera is turned on so that the barrier blade is held at the 1st position without driving the barrier blade, the barrier blade is moved to the 2nd position just before starting the exposing operation by the release switch and the barrier blade is moved to the 1st position just after finishing the exposing operation.
