PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a switching circuit for driving data electrode side repeats switching operation with the maximum amplitude necessary for write discharge, therefore, when image data are increased in variation reactive power of the circuit is increased, and power consumption of a PDP display device is increased. SOLUTION: The driving voltage of the data electrode side is lowered and the power consumption of the PDP display device can be decreased by providing the driving circuit with a video signal detecting circuit 41, a bias output control circuit 42, and a data electrode selecting circuit 46, applying a bias voltage pulse lower than a threshold voltage of switch driving pats to one of the switch driving parts in the data electrode selecting circuit, and applying to data electrodes a ternary data pulse superposing a binary data pulse on the bias voltage pulse.
