PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce mechanical friction caused by the sliding movement of a piston by preventing collapse of a cylinder liner in a cylinder block of a reciprocating wet liner water-cooled internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: An internal thread is formed at the crankshaft-side end of the cylinder liner in the direction of the cylinder head and a bolt hole is formed through a cylinder block body, from the surface of the cylinder block body to be engaged with a crankshaft holder or a crankcase to the internal thread of the cylinder liner. A bolt is threadably engaged with the internal thread through the bolt hole and tightened.
