PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acculately evaluate the steering stability of a vehicle on the basis of a quantitative index. SOLUTION: Steering force Fh and rudder angle quantityθare detected, and positive steering work being the integrated value of a section becoming positive in steering power and negative steering work being the integrated value of a section becoming negative are respectively operated in the distribution of steering power (dθ/dt.Fh) with respect to a time axis. A negative steering work ratio being a ratio of negative steering work to positive steering work is operated, and the steering stability of the vehicle is evaluated on the basis of the negative steering work ratio.
