PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an isoolefin/multi-olefin copolymer having a multi olefin content of more than 2.5 mol%, a molecular weight of more than 240 kg/mol, and a gel content of less than 1.2 mass %. SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing this copolymer contains a process (a) in which at least an isoolefin, at least a multi-olefin, and any other monomer are polymerized in the presence of a catalyst and an organic nitro compound, and a process (b) in which the obtained copolymer is contacted with at least a haloganation agent under a haloganation condition.
