摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel sheet for a positive electrode can which can improve battery characteristics of an alkali manganese battery, and a production method therefor. SOLUTION: In the plated steel sheet for the positive electrode can of the alkali manganese battery, the side to be used as the inside face of the can is provided with an Fe-Ni diffusion layer as a first layer and a discontinuous Ni plated layer as a secondary layer. Desirably, the coating weight of the Fe-Ni diffusion layer as the first layer is 0.1 to 18 g/m2 in terms of Ni, and the coating weight of the discontinuous Ni plated layer as the secondary layer is 0.1 to 9 g/m2 in terms of Ni. In the method for producing the Ni plated steel sheet, Ni plating with differential thickness is applied to both sides of the steel sheet. In the side to be used as the inside face of the positive electrode can of the battery, the whole of the Ni plated layer is made into an Fe-Ni diffusion layer, and in the other side, a part of the Ni plated layer is made into an Fe-Ni diffusion layer by thermal diffusion treatment, then, discontinuous Ni plating with the coating weight of 0.1 to 9 g/m2 is applied to the side to be used as the inside face of the positive polarity can of a battery by using a mat plating bath.
