PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode of a structure capable of effectively preventing the interference with a member to be treated and eventually the layer dislodgment, or the like, based thereon and hardly gives rise to negative polarization even when a brittle conductive active material layer is formed on the electrode. SOLUTION: This electrode 201 has an electric discharge member 211 which has an electric discharge surface formed of a conductive active material layer and a protector 1 which partially covers an electric discharge surface in the state of forming a specified spacing between itself and the electric discharge surface in order to protect the electric discharge surface from a contact with the material to be treated.
