PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for an asymmetric urea compound, which controls the generation as a by-product of a symmetric urea compound, has a high yield, high general-purpose properties in comparison with a conventional method and is usable on an industrial scale. SOLUTION: This method for producing the asymmetric urea compound of formula 3: ArNHCONR1R2 comprises a process 1 for adding a pyridine base and either one of an aromatic amine of formula 1: ArNH1 or an amine of formula 2: NHR1R2 to a solvent, a process 2 for reacting the amine with phenyl chlorocarbonate and a process 3 for adding the aromatic amine of formula 1 or the amine of formula 2 which is not added in the process 1 to the reaction system to carry out the reaction [when R1 is a 1-12C alkyl group or a 7-12C aralkyl group which may contain a substituent group and R2 is H and when R1 and R2 form a ring with an adjacent N, the aromatic amine of formula 1 is added in the process 1 and the amine of formula 2 is added in the process 3 (each sign in the formulas is as shown in the specification)].
