PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding die for hollow glass articles fitted with a shell ring having a cooling mechanism capable of rapidly cooling the entire of the shell ring down to a prescribed temperature region and making the temperatures between the upper surface and under the surface of the shell ring uniform. SOLUTION: The forming die which is placed with the shell ring 3 on the upper part of a bottom 2 and presses and forms the fused glass gob supplied into the bottom 2 to the hollow glass article by a plunger is provided with a vent path 3a within the shell ring 3. A cooling gas supply port 3b and a cooling gas discharge port 3c are communicated with the vent path 3a.
