PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin sheet having uniform various physical properties such as uniform thermal, optical, mechanical properties and the like along a widthwise direction, excellent thermal dimensional stability and mechanical properties and good flatness. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the biaxially oriented thermoplastic resin sheet comprises the steps of orienting a thermoplastic resin sheet by stretching the thermoplastic resin sheet at least in a longitudinal direction, further providing the sheet for a roll heat treatment under a higher temperature condition than a stretching temperature of the stretching, and thereafter providing the sheet for a tenter heat treatment.
